Bug Fix -
GNOME Panel Drawer Oddities:
If you have a drawer on your panel, and you are using the panel's autohide feature, you will find that the drawer automatically pops open any time the panel appears. This is a bug in GNOME 2.4, which ships with Fedora Core 1. You can fix this problem, and a few other oddities, by installing the updated GNOME Panel RPM. To do this run Synaptic and type gnome-panel in Synaptic's Find box. Then click Update, Execute, and then follow the usual Synaptic procedures. If you prefer, you can instead download the RPM file directly and then install it via the usual double-click method - there are no other dependencies to install. To go that route, just click the following link to download the file: http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/1/i386/gnome-panel-2.4.2-3.i386.rpm

Either route you take, after the new file is installed, restart your machine and your panel problems should be gone.

Correction - Page 135, Project 9A-3, #5: In the very last line, rmdir expRPMS should be rm -r expRPMS, unless, of course, you move or dump the files inside that folder first. The rmdir command only removes empty directories.

Update - Page 140, Project 9C: Adding the Macromedia Flash Player plugin has become a much simpler process, as the necessary file is now available as an easy-to-use RPM and no longer requires libstdc++. The necessary file is available from http://macromedia.mplug.org/.
